Fallout 3 - Day 1

Once again this is not a game that is new to me, i got it when it came out but got side tracked after a couple of weeks, so I'm starting off a bit into the main story already.

The story so far:
  1. I left the vault to find my (the character's) father.
  2. In the first town I found I was told to check with the local radio station.
  3. At the radio station I was told to do a quest first before being given the info.
  4. On a side quest I bump into some one who has seen my father and I find out he's in another vault.
  5. I happen to stumble on this vault by accident and rescue my father.
  6. We returned to the city to finish his work on a super water purifier.
I did a ton of side quests too but for this diary I'm going to try to focus on finishing the main story quest first, then maybe later go back to do the rest of the side quests.
The super water purifier is located in the Jefferson memorial, which is handy since I had already cleared the place out of all bad guys when i got lost in it on a side quest.

The first step to get the purifier up and running was to turn on the main power. Easy enough, I just strolled through the dead bodies and flip the switch. Next I had to replace a fuse and turn on the main computer.
My apologies to the Spoony Experiment. ^_^

Finally a last short jog into the sub basement to turn on a jammed valve, and then wouldn't you know it, all hell breaks lose! The Enclave (an evil national guard) storm the place and demand control of the purifier. My father refuses and nukes the room, dying much like Spock in Star Trek II, leaving me to escape with the remaining scientists that were helping him.

We navigate through the sewers and fight various feral ghouls along the way. When i killed one particular ghoul with VATS his head sailed off in a perfect straight line and landed neatly straight up on a flight of stairs. Considering how these things normally bounce all over the place, such a straight and even trajectory was quite weird. So we make it to the Citadel, the strong hold of the keepers of the peace, and I'm told that i need to find a G.E.C.K. (sort of like the Genesis pod, also from Star Trek II) to get the purifier working again. While there i also finally learn how to use the heavy power armor that has been gathering dust in a cupboard back in my home in Megaton.

I find out that there is a G.E.C.K. in another vault on the far west of the map, so I quick travel to the farthest point west i know and start running. Along the way I see a couple weird sights, first there was a new kind of patrol robot that i had never seen before and it took 4 pulse grenades to stop it. Next I saw a robobrain in a firefight with a Eyebot, I guess even robobrains can't stand that propaganda. The oddest thigh tough was when I was attack by a death claw, after shooting it in the head with a lazer riffe a few times it just stoped attacking and stood there staring at me meancingly. I guess it was just so suprised that I actualy faught back, every other time I bumped into one of these they killed me so quick i could barelay fire a shot. So after a few moments just staring at the beast i took out my railway spike gun and shot it's head off.So after a few more minuits of traveling I finally reached Little Lamplight, where i'm to find an entrance to the vault with the G.E.C.K., and considering all the weird thigns that happend so far I decided to save here and call it a night.
