Persona 4 - Day 4

April 19th

In the morning Tokka got a surprise call from Margaret reminding him once again the value of social links and how it can be just as important as level grinding, it's no coincidence then that this is the first day that joining sports clubs is available. I choose to sign Tokka up for the Soccer club and that forms the Strength social bond. I don't know if the choice of soccer over basketball makes much of a difference since the basketball coach is part of this new social link too.

Back home I had Tokka study his school work to boost his knowledge and understanding skills a little.

April 20th

In school Tokka got a little more understanding points for knowing the spelling of Millennium (I had to look it up) for a weird Mr. Garrison type teacher... After school the gang goes back to the TV realm (it turns out they can just resume where they left off) to see if yesterdays leveling did the trick, and fortunately it did. After the knight is defeated the shadow Yukiko is nowhere to be seen and only her voice is heard.

The very first monster the group faces on the 6th floor is TWO knights like the one they just struggled through... at least these ones were weaker and prone to Light magic which banished them quickly. After a bit more leveling the group makes it to the 8th floor, and there is even a save butterfly right before the big door.

On the other side of the door is both Yosuke and her shadow form, and of course Yosuke denies that the shadow is anything like her. This transforms the shadows into a phoenix in a cage, not as weird as Chie's shadow but still nicely symbolic. During the battle the shadow summons a prince charming much like the annoying kings that i have been fighting, but this one is weak to ice not fire. Unfortunately both Tokka and Chie are weak to the shadows powerful fire attacks and the party is killed off rather quickly.

After a few more attempts I decide that it's time to grind again (and get some new armor/weapons) before sending the group home.

April 21st

Tokka had soccer practice today after a bot of somewhat odd dialogue his Strength social link increased.

April 22nd

Tokka spent after school hanging out with Yosuke and after talking a bit about how the town see him the magician social link went up.

April 23rd

To celebrate my birthday Tokka took on a job as a day care helper, and while it didn't build any social links yet it pays 4,000 yen and it did introduce him to a new character with a portrait (so she must be important).

April 24th

Since it's a day off and the rains are coming soon, I decide to take another stab at Yukiko's shadow with the group's new levels and equipment. Things go much better after a few attempts and finally Yukiko is free. Chie has a heart to hear with her and she is then able to confront her shadow, gaining a rather cool looking persona.

After the battle Yukiko thanks Teddie for his help in the and comforts him about how he's going to be lonely when the group is back in their world, this causes Teddy to become attracted to Yukiko. Back at home Dojima has invited his partner, finally named Adachi, over for dinner that night.

April 25th

The cultural clubs are open today so I have Tokka join the drama group, there he meets Yumi and forms the Sun social link.

April 26th

Soccer practice again today for Tokka, and once again the Strength social link increases.

April 27th

With no activities set for today, and no one to hang out with, I mainly explored the school and town and found some guy offering prizes if I guessed his quiz correctly, and I failed, at least I get another shot another day. With nothing else to do i bring the group to the TV realm and find some really powerful wrench weapons for Yosuke in the shadow liquor store. That night Tokka has a weird dream that he's Chie's parent and that strengthens his social link... O_o

April 28th

Drama practice again today, and once again Tokka's Sun social link with Yumi has gone up.

April 29th

It's a rainy day and fortunately a quite one since if i hadn't already saved Yukiko this would have been the last chance since the fog game into the real world that night and it would have meant the death of Yukiko if she was still there. As it was Tokka spent a quiet day eating a huge bowl of ramen that boosted several of his stats and even raised his understnadingto the next level! That night though the dark figure was walking around down town.

And I think that's quite enough for today.
