Turns out that I was closer to the end of Undead Nightmare than I though, there was just 1 mission left. In the end the zombie outbreak was caused by the disturbance of an old Mayan shrine, and after John put the sacred mask back to where it belonged all the people returned to normal (or dead). Then a while later the grave robber from the main game steals the mask and John comes back as a zombie but keeps is mind due to being buried with some holly water, so in the post game he runs around forever saving villages from zombies. I didn't complete all the side quests, like finding the unicorn, since it would take hours to do all the requirements and I didn't want to spend an extra day playing just for that.
So tomorrow it's another Rockstar game and it's a leap forwards in setting and a leap back in release date, GAT IV.
