Started playing Valkyria Chronicles today, and needless to say it's very different from Demon's Souls. The game plays like a hybrid of 3rd person shooter and turn based strategy, while moving on the field the game runs in real time a your character can be shot at, but selecting the character and taking aim are turn based.
The plot so far is that the east and west of a alternate history Europe are going to war over a magical power source, and the small independent country the protagonist is from is caught in the middle. The protagonist joins up with the local army and is soon a tank commander in charge of his own battalion. His half sister (voiced by Laura Bailey in full Rise mode) first looked like the typical woobie character, but she soon turns out to be a expert mechanic and a skilled tank driver.
So far i'm on chapter 5 and the neatest moment so far is when one of my snipers blew up a tank with just 1 shot. Progression is going slow since I'm trying to win as many fights as I can with out any units dying and avoiding too many being taken out of battle due to injuries, so a lot of restating campaigns.
