Well just past the save point I finally found yesterday was a mid-boss battle against the first boss of the game (an armored rhino thing), which went rather quickly (I had 3 characters charge and 1 use heavy attacks). After that, one of the people I rescued from the temple said that he unlocked the door out and we can all leave.
It seems like the end but I have yet to find the moon crystal, there are still slaves trapped in the temple, and I haven't had a real boss battle. After and hour and a half of wandering around every inch I can find of the temple and going back and forth to the village I still can not find what I am supposed to do next.
Tomorrow I'll check a walk through for help...
