Back at it again...

Oh, it hasn't been that long!

It's a new year, and I still have a huge game back log, so I'm giving this blog another shot to help me keep on track with finishing games!

First game up is The Last Of Us: Remastered, a game that I have been wanting to play for a long time and some how remained mostly spoiler free on. Also starting on a PS4 title since it has built in screen captures and my capture card for my other systems won't be in for a few more days. So let's dive in!
Not the splashiest of splash screens

The title screen is a little underwhelming. The graphics look great, but the menu is kinda just hanging out in the corner trying not to be noticed. Oh well, I get into the game and right away it tosses at you Sarah, Joel's (the protagonist) wonderful and sweet daughter being wonderful and sweet. She's not the kid on the box art and this is basically a zombie game, so she's likely not long for this world.
This shot is an orgy of evidence that this is a tween girl's room

First controlling Sarah, I stumble around sleepily at night after getting an odd call to wake up Joel. after looking around their really nice house (they have a PS3 naturally). Then it goes into full zombie out break mode. Shooting the infected neighbour, driving around the town among fire and chaos, wrecking the car, and having to escape on foot. The game looking really great the whole time.

Then the game throws an actual twist. I expected that in standard zombie fashion the daughter would be infected and turn, making Joel the bitter bad ass seen in game play. But at the end of the chase the run across some military dude in a hazmat suit, who after a bit of dialogue opens fire and FUCKING KILLS Sarah! Did not see that coming! Military dude is then killed before they can kill Joel.

Not the best place to live...

Flash 20 years later and Joel is now some gun smuggler in this walled off post apocalyptic city.  His partner wakes him up and says she found where some dude that stole their guns are, so they go after him via a combat tutorial.

Sneaking is fun!

They get to the dude, but he's already sold the guns to the local resistance force the Fireflies (wouldn't that make them Brown Coats?), so they shoot him. The resistance leader tells them that to get their guns back they need to smuggle a girl, Ellie, out of town and to another city. I was so hoping for another twist and that wasn't going to be the cliche magically immune kid... but no such luck. Then fit hits the shan as soon as they get out of the city and I left off for today ducking behind some rocks as army dudes try to find me, Jole's partner, and wonder girl.

Still fun to sneak!
