Upon entering the new Vegas strip I realized that I don't even need to kill the guy who shot my character in the head since I wasn't working for Mr. House and thus didn't need the platinum chip. So I headed to the NCR base in the area to talk to the head guy there what I could do to advance the plot in their direction.
I was sent down a familiar path when I was told that they wanted the bomb loving Boomers to side with them. I did the standard things to gain their trust, but this time though I didn't have the repair skills to fix their solar panels, but I did have the medical knowledge I lacked before and was able to heal up some of them who were injured by giant exploding ants. Also I was able to kill off all of said giant ants in one shot with the help of my science skill.
After that was all settled I went back to the NCR and got a new assignment to deal with some Elvis impersonators.
