I STILL have way too many games!

Well, 6 years after my last post and I still have too many game that I have yet to finish. This blog is to help me keep track of my progress on them! (Spoilers. Duh.)

Dam, why didn't I see this coming!?

Small correction from last time, apparently Joel and Ellie are not in Montanan yet, but in Wyoming, though close enough.

They don't get very far before finding that the road has been washed out, but there is a wrecked car there with a new gun...

Name could only be more accurate if it spat fire too.

El Diablo is scoped pistol that only holds one bullet at a time, but boy does that shot count. Kills most dudes instantly, sending them flying backwards!

After a shot jaunt along the river, they come across a hydro dam with a large basin between where they need to go. You know what this means, another water puzzle since Ellie still can't swim!

It's been months, give the girl some swimming lessons Joel!

Fortunately the game has a hint system that pops up after taking too long with a puzzle, and it says what that look for. Apparently I swam past the objective 5 times without even noticing that it was something I could interact with. After that was done, Ellie could open the flood gate on the other side, making a bridge Joel could cross. The even have this cute little high five moment.

Teamwork!

Warm fuzzies don't last long though. a short stretch away there's a camp site, and just off from that is a small grave with a stuffed animal on it. This reminds Ellie that she forgot to leave the toy she got for Sam on his grave when they buried him off camera. Though any talk of this is shut down by Joel, who has some issues dealing with grief...

What's with this game killing off kids?!

When Joel and Ellie then try to cut through the hydro plant, they find that it's currently occupied. Upside is that it's not Hunters for a change, but a group of survivors, including Joel's brother Tommy!

Awkward Sibling Hug

The survivors are from a whole town that's self sufficient, and they've been trying to get the dam running for power. Once Joel get Tommy alone for a moment, he explain that Ellie is immune to the fungus and that Tommy needs to get her to his old Firefly friends. Tommy doesn't take this well, since he hasn't been with the Fireflies for years and now he's settled down with a wife with the survivors. He doesn't want to risk his life just to take Ellie off Joel's hands.

The conversation is cut short though when raiders attack the power plant. They don't last long against El Diablo and the nifty new fire ax I found. When the fight is over, Tommy sees that Joel does really care about Ellie and so he changes his mind to help his brother out. Tommy's wife on the other hand is not so open about this idea and they have a big fight.

Seeing the fight, Ellie puts together that they are all fighting over what to do with her, so she steals a horse from the survivors and rides off on her own. Joel and Tommy give chase on horses too.

Horseback riding!

After a few encounters with Raiser camps along the way, they catch up with Ellie at an old ranch. Her and Joel have a a big "I'm not your daughter!" and "And i'm not your father!" fight, where Ellie says that she knows about the daughter that Joel never talks about.

Like every emotional moment in this game, it's cut short by more bad guys showing up. In no mood for their crap now, I quickly stealth kill the lot of them. The brothers and Ellie slowly ride back in silence to the town the survivors set up, but Joel stops short. He tells his brother that he'll take Ellie the rest of the way to the Firefly's lab himself. Ellie hops up on Joel's horse and they ride off together.

Daww...

The game then cuts to a shot time later when they reach the university with the lab the Fireflies were using. The place is completely dead though, with only infected milling about.

Pfft, only 6?

But The infected are not much trouble since Joel soon finds a new toy. A home made flame thrower!

The kids love this one.

A couple well place nail bombs and cleaning up the rest with the flamer, and the infected problem were all gone. While searching the abandoned campus, I even found a couple more comics.

Apparently they made a movie of this in the game world.

But that and some wild monkeys is pretty much all we found. The whole lab was cleared out and moved off to some where else.

A whole lot of nothing here.

While planning what to do next, more bad dudes show up just to ruin the mood, like they always do. This time though one of them grabbed Joel, and while fighting to get free, he takes a fall off a railing, landing with a metal spike through the gut.

Oh... that's not good!

What follows is a really tense sequence where Joel struggles just to walk, often losing focus and the view going dark. Bad guys keep attacking, but Joel can barely lift his gun, so it's up to Ellie to take them out.

This is really not good.

Ellie steps up and is a total bad ass, managing to get Joel back to their horse. But they don't get far before Joel falls off, looking very grey and dying. Ellie frantically begs for him to get up as the scene fades to black.

Another time skip!

It's winter now and Ellie is out hunting on her own for food, snagging a rabbit as the shot opens. She then spots a deer and heads after it.

Arrowed!

Normally I would stop here, since it's been over 2 hours, but dammit, i want to know what happened with Joel! I should have seen that the earlier bit with Joel opening up to Ellie and choosing to care for her was stetting up for something bad, but I still kind have hope he pulled through some how.

Be werry werry- Drat, used that joke already.

Ellie controls just like Joel, though at this point she only has a bow and arrow and can't level up with pills. Sneaking is much more important in this part since the deer has much better hearing than any clicker, also there are branches on the ground that give away your location if you step on them.

After shooting the deer a couple times, Ellie tracks it to an old lumber mill or something. She then meets tow other survivors who claim to be from a larger group looking for food. They offer to trade for the deer, and Ellie jumps at the offer of antibiotics in trade. This gives me hope that Joel is some how alive, but in not good shape, but it could just as well be that the meds are for whoever Ellie is travelling with post Joel...

While waiting for one of the survivors to come back with the meds,  Infected start attacking, because they are jerks like that. So that's where I stopped, hopefully tomorrow will fill in the fate of Joe

At least she has a gun now..
