So Nial, the son of Rhys and Lena, goes with the androids from the first part and checks out the kingdom of his mother, and fortunately a handy bridge has been built in the past 18 years so it's easy to get to. Along the way I quickly figure out that over time the massive poisonous rat population has been weeded out by an influx of stronger, yet not poisonous, lizards! if nothing else, this shows how much the land changed for the better.
The kingdom is totally destroyed though and the surviving guard says the attackers came from a cave far to the south. The cave turns out to be a space bridges to the planet Elysium, and apparently that's where all the poisonous rats first came from, since they are more numerous and stronger there. I could only hope by the third generation the lizards will continue to spread and rid this world of poisonous rats as well.
I managed to get the party to the nearest city, after being attacked by 4 star fish and 2 giant naked cyclopes, then healed at the in and saved my game for the night. Tomorow I find out why this act of hostility happened.
