The game is starting off a little odd.
After the two protagonists sail to a near by island to pick up a huge moon stone, they come back to find that nearly everyone in the pirate village, including the girl they saved, has been taken by the empire. So after a good night sleep they sail off to take on the empire, but their ship is destroyed by a giant flying whale. They then saved by the John Silver of Treasure Planet, who joins their party for 3 minuets before dumping them at the first city he stops at.
And also there is a side quest introduced to catch invisible flying moon fish to feed to a bird to make a little girl happy for a random doctor.
Very JRPG...
