Well turns out that the game wanted to throw another curve ball and threw a frustrating boss battle out of nowhere against a giant squid.
The frustrating part comes from the fact that almost the whole level is like that frustrating nonsense with hitting the fireballs. First you have to shoot the squid as it jumps, then bomb it, then shoot 3 tentacles from a ways away, then bomb it again, then shoot 3 more tentacles, and if any of those shots miss you lose most of your points. So for one level the the fun cool puzzle game becomes a frustrating awkward shooter.
There is also more steps after that and all the while the ship is taking damage, too much and it's game over.
So after finally beating it with the lowest score yet in the game I catch up with the skeleton pirate and his freaky Esher like treasure island in the center of the earth. The level is so big and complicated that I'll leave it for tomorrow.
