Saving cats

Back in Oliver's world, I head over to the shop to check on that cat. but then something caught my eye.
Oranges for a penny?! i'll take 100!

Not sure what's the inflation rate here is, but Oliver is carrying around a pocket full of several hundred gold coins. Cashing them in for just the metal value would make him rich!

So it turns out that the cat isn't around the shop and the owner doesn't know where he is either. Drippy gets the idea to search Oliver's house for it. Why would the cat be there? No good reason other than to move the plot along. They get to the hose, and that strange girl with green hair is there.

Any relation to the girl by the tree in the other town?

After apologising again about Oliver's mother dying, she says her name is Pea, and she claims to have always known him. When the missing cat is brought up, she claims to know where it is and can lead Oliver to it.

Now the really odd thing is that Drippy can't see Pea, just how normal people can't see Drippy. So just what is she that only Oliver can see? This is not answered since Oliver doesn't talk to either of them about it, despite Drippy and Pea likely knowing a reason. They have to keep stretching this out to a much later reveal.

The invisible leading the invisible

She leads them to the same garage that Oliver's friend made his car at. They find the cat there, who apparently ran off to chase the mice in the garage. Oliver goes to thank Pea, but she's already gone again.

Pea is batman!

The cat is all tired out after chasing mice, so Drippy carries him back to the shop. This makes me wonder. Since normal people can't see Drippy, did they just see a cat floating around on it's back a half foot off the ground? This game raises too many common sense questions and only answers silly ones.
No one asks about the floating cat.

On hearing that the cat was at the garage to chase mice, Drippy get the idea that the cat king must also be missing due to mice, and comes up with the idea that the mice kidnapped the king. With that train of though, they head back to Ding Dong Dell and to the sewers that kid was guarding from mice.

I named it Sulky.

The boy wants to help out, but Drippy says no since it's too dangerous. So, instead he lets Oliver bring his monkey-like familiar friend.

And once again it's time for the obligatory sewer level

So, new dungeon and a new familiar, now i can swap them back and forth as the need arises. First enemy that we come across, I send out Sulky to see what she can do...

Dammit Sulky!

Well, it's not really Sulky's fault, it's the dumb game. While in most games when you get a new party member, they start off about the same level as you are. Some even scale so they are always comparable even if you did a bunch of grinding. In this game, Sulky starts off at level one, against level 6 enemies. So Sulky is basically useless until I can boost her levels while using Mulberry to do the fighting.

Also, since I haven't saved since the start of this entry, I had to pay out 33$ to resume where i was and not lose an hour of progress.

While exploring and grinding levels, I came across a green chest that there was no way to get to. This is the second such chest I've seen in the game that's out of reach. There must be another spell later in the game for getting out of reach things. There's already purple chest that need a more powerful wand than the blue ones.

That chest will be mine!

So by the time I have Sulky up to a level close to Oliver and Mulberry, I've fully explored the sewers and ready to find the cat king. Turns out that he wasn't kidnaped by mice like Drippy though, but was chasing the mouse king that stole the wand he planed to give Oliver. They get to him just as he's facing off against the giant rodent.

Did we come at a bad time?

The giant mouse takes this distraction and wacks the king in the back of his head, knocking him out. Then he attacks Oliver and company.

Dickery is his middle name!

With Sulky finally on par with the rest of the group, and immune to the mouse's confuse attack, it's a 3 against one battle (taking turns) that ends quickly.

Kick his arse!

the giant mouse ran away at the end of the fight, possibly to show up as a boss later, and Oliver helps the cat King get back to the castle.

The game cuts to the white witch, finally officially named, meeting with her zodiac council. Looking like a more gold and white version of the Jedi council. They're all decked out to the 9's in this royal looking garb and being all stoic, while she's just chilling in a cloak and her skin tight colour change onesie.

These guys really like gold.

They are there to discuses what to do about Oliver, since he's fated to ruin all their plans. No idea what those plans are, but it's likely some generic evil for the sake of evil.  So the White Witch calls up the big nasty wizard who's been cursing everyone with bad feels and truing Drippy into a plot hole. He also may be the soul copy of Oliver's dad, still trying to figure that out.

He says he'll take care of Oliver, but on the condition that none of the other council members go after Oliver too or get in his way. He plans to taint Oliver's heart with the blackness of despair. I'd think killing him would be a more guaranteed option.

He also has really bad hair and posture

So back with the cat king, Oliver finally get a proper wand (though it still can't open purple chests), and a new ice magic spell. will be good against fire enemies, or maybe water, not sure how it works in this game.

Moar powar!

Now that Oliver has a wand and the next goal on his quest, the desert to learn for another sage, it's time for more side quests!

While running about doing all the new quests that spawned, I came across this odd fellow that also had a quest. He's wearing a full proper suit and hat from Oliver's world and no one is giving him a second glance, but Oliver had to made a full change or be laughed off the street. What's up with that?

This is some kind of double standard!

After finishing all the new quests and bounties, there was nothing left to do but head off to the Golden Grove, the forest that leads to the desert.

Naturally you would expect a forest full of life to be connected to  desert.

As they enter, Drippy mentions how this is the home of the faeries, and there should be loads of them there to greet them, but there is no sign of them. Confused, they go off to explore the forest, finding nothing but some new monsters.

And also a broken giant robot.

Well, that's kinda out of place.

With only the goal point left to explore, i'll leave that for tomorrow and saved the game here.
